Rock Churches of Ivanovo

The Ivanovo Rock Churches are a collection of churches, chapels and monasteries excavated in the rock, located near the village of Ivanovo in Bulgaria. The oldest church dates from the 12th century. On October 22, 1979, churches were inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The churches are located about 20 kilometers south of Ruse, in the foothills of Russenski Lom.
Old Nessebar

The old town of Nessebar is located 30 km north of Burgas, on a small peninsula of the Black Sea that is linked to the land (the new town of Nessebar) only by a long and narrow isthmus.
It is one of the oldest cities in Europe founded around 3000 BC by the Thracians and considered as the richest city of architectural monuments of the Middle Ages in Bulgaria.
There are 23 churches and monuments from a early Christian basilica to a domed Byzantine church specimen, reflecting the archaeological and artistic influence of the Greek, Roman and Byzantine era.
Kazanlak Tomb
The Thracian Tomb of Kazanlak is a tholos-type brick burial located near the city of Kazanlak in central Bulgaria.
Discovered in 1944, the tomb is part of an important Thracian necropolis. It includes a narrow room and a burial chamber, both decorated with a fresco depicting a Thracian couple at a funeral ceremony. The monument dates from the fourth century AC. The frescoes represent in particular horses and a seated couple hugging each other. These paintings are the best preserved traces of the Hellenistic period in Bulgaria.
The tomb is near the ancient Thracian capital of Seuthopolis. It has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1979.
Pirin massif

The Pirin is a mountainous massif of Bulgaria which is part of the group formed by the Rila and the Rhodopes. The Pirin National Park is the most beautiful nature reserve in Bulgaria and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Located in the south-west of the country, it covers more than 40,000 hectares. Its highest point is the peak Vihren, 2914 m high. this protected site has an exceptional fauna and flora.
The park is populated by rare and protected species such as wolves, bears, foxes and deer. The Pirin is the ideal site to enjoy the beauty of nature in every season and to indulge in the many activities that the region allows.
Tomb of Sveshtari

The Thracian shrine of Svechtari is located 2.5 km southwest of the village of Svechtari (Razgrad oblast, north-east of Bulgaria).
Discovered in 1982 in a small hill, this Thracian tomb of the third century BC. J.-C. illustrates the essential principles of the structure of the buildings of the Thracian cult. The decorations and architecture of the tomb are considered unique, with frescoes and polychrome caricatides half-human, half-vegetal. These ten female figures adorning the walls of the vault and the decorations of the telescope on the tomb are the only examples found in Thracian earth.
Rila Monastery

The Rila Monastery is located on the right bank of the Rilska River, in the Rila Mountain, 17km from the city of Rila. The Rila Monastery is the most visited tourist site in Bulgaria. It is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and ranks first in all guides to Bulgaria as a must-see.
