Pamporovo ski resort



Pamporovo (in Bulgarian Пампорово) is one of the largest and most popular winter sports resorts in Bulgaria. It is located in the Rhodope Mountains, 250 km from the capital Sofia and only 80 km south of Plovdiv. The nearest town is Smolyan.


Pamporovo spans 1,650 meters at the foot of Mount Snezhanka, which rises to 1,926 meters above sea level.

Departing from its summit, several ski slopes head towards the resort.


Borovets ski resort



Borovets is a mountain resort located on the northern slopes of the Rila Mountains, Bulgaria.

The ski area is located 73 km from the city of Sofia. Borovets serves as an entrance to numerous ski and snowboard trails on the steep Moussala Ridge in Rila National Park.


During the winter, it is the largest winter sports resort in Bulgaria and in the summer, the resort offers many outdoor activities.

The ski slopes are open from mid-December to April. Skiers and snowboarders have at their disposal 58 km of slopes and 35 km of cross-country ski trails, of all levels.

13 lifts transport visitors. The winter sports resort is located between 1300 and 2560 meters above sea level.


The resort also has a famous biathlon track as well as a ski jump.

Prices for packages, ski lessons, accommodation and catering are very affordable and half the price of a resort in France.


The resort has many bars and inn restaurants with a pleasant atmosphere as well as numerous shops.

Ideal for holidays with family or friends. Cycle paths also wind through the alpine landscape.

Walking trails lead through rocky outcrops and valleys to the high-altitude Seven Rila Lakes. Just to the north, kayaks and other pleasure boats navigate the calm waters of Iskar Reservoir.


Mountain Vitosha



A few kilometers from Sofia… Located in the western part of Bulgaria not far from the Serbian border, the capital of Sofia, which is crossed by the Iskar river, enjoys an exceptional geographical position at the foot of the Vitosha massif and a few kilometers from the Balkan mountain range. Vitosha is a mountain range that overlooks the city of Sofia.


Pirin massif



The Pirin National Park is the most beautiful nature reserve in Bulgaria and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Pirin Massif is part of a mountain range with the Rila and Rhodope mountains.


Located in the southwest of the country, it covers more than 40,000 hectares.

Its mountains peak at an altitude of 2,914 meters with Pic Vihren.


Fauna and Flora

Listed on the UNESCO World Heritage list since 1983, this protected site has exceptional flora and fauna.

The park is populated by rare and protected species such as wolves, bears, foxes and deer.

Bulgaria has in fact a flora of 3000 species, a fauna of no less than 13000 species or subspecies.

Without forgetting species which are endangered in other European countries such as the wolf or the bear.


Mountains and Lakes

The site has many dizzying mountain peaks. Many springs and rivers cross it.

And in the natural park there are more than 180 lakes whose water of glacial origin is pure and clear.

Many endemic species are present among the numerous pine trees, hornbeams and beeches in the region.


Some plants survived the last ice age and became relict species.

And many medicinal plants are also found in the mountain.

The Rila's significant fauna (more than 2,934 species) lives in an environment virtually untouched by human activity, such as brown bears, wolves, deer and chamois.

But also wild goats, golden eagles, owls, black woodpeckers and many other species.

Indeed, the Rila is one of the territories in Europe with the largest population of birds of prey.

It currently represents a fundamental ecological corridor between European and Mediterranean fauna and the fauna of Asia Minor.



Without forgetting another unmissable place in Bulgaria present in the region and absolutely worth visiting – the famous and sublime Rila Monastery.
